Two treasures that caught my eye when I visited his tent recently were a lovely antique bird cage that my sister would love (pictured below) and a small marble bust of a young country girl in a hat (pictured above). He also had some fine oil paintings and an antique clock. Its glass face swings open so that you can set the time manually.
José Manuel travels through out New York and neighboring states to find unique pieces to add to his collection at the flea and antique market.
He has been selling at the flea market in New York City for 8 years. I asked him what enjoyed most about his work. “Everything here has a story,” he said. “I can tell you something about every single piece here.”
You can find José Manuel Ceballos every Saturday and Sunday at the Chelsea Flea Market on West 25th Street between 6th Avenue and Broadway, from 9AM till 5PM. As at the entrance where to find his tent. I’m sure he’ll have a story to tell you about something that catches your eye.
