This past Sunday marked the return of the New Amsterdam Market outside the Fulton Fish Market downtown. This month’s market featured the Bread Pavilion with 9 artisanal breadmakers, as well as many other wonderful regional food purveyors. My guest photographer was James Wesolowski, who spent the afternoon strolling through the aisles, tasting samples, and buying delicious foods.
The New Amsterdam Market will be held monthly on Sundays through August. I am extremely happy to report that in September, it will become a weekly market at the request of the market community and the food purveyors themselves.
The next market will be held on Saturday, July 24, which is City of Water Day. I look forward to seeing what New Amsterdam has planned to celebrate our city’s waterways.
