One of the many nice things about these ruby red raspberries from Samascott Orchards is that they are a reminder of the beautiful summer we had this year. This seasonal crossover fruit softens the blow of returning to school and focusing on work again in the fall.
I spoke with someone at Samascott today, and she let me know that they will be bringing these plump beauties to several weekly greenmarkets in the city for the next few weeks. It might be time to think about making some raspberry jam. Maybe I’ll ask James to make me a rustic raspberry tart for Sunday Family Dinner.
The best thing to do with them, though, is to pop them straight into your mouth.
You might want to plan a visit this month to the farm in Kinderhoek, NY too. Pick your own fruits, vegetables and pumpkins. Shop in their Farm Store, let your little kids loose in their hay bale maze, and lose yourself their fabulous corn maze!
Find Samascott Orchards at these farmers markets weekly in New York City, Upstate and Massachusetts.
