Weekend Market Picks July 26 & 27, 2014: C3Brix Lego Art in Queens

C3Brix’ Katie Proctor shoots us With The Bopper

This is a very exciting weekend in the markets, and for me personally. I’m going to be a food judge at the LIC Flea Favorites Foods Festival. I haven’t yet tasted anything at a market that I didn’t like, so it’s going to be an interesting experience. But I’ve got my stretchy pants on, and I’m up the challenge!

One of the Flea’s coolest vendors is C3Brix (see video above). Read this story about them and then check them out while you’re hanging out with me at the Festival!

Weekend Market Picks

Saturday, July 26, 2014

East Village Community Market: This new sidewalk market features artisan and flea market vendors, and I feel like it is a nice addition to that neighborhood. I look forward to seeing it become part of the weekend fabric for both residents and visitors alike. 10AM – 7PM, 2nd Avenue between East 10th & 11th Streets, Manhattan

LIC Flea: As mentioned above, come out for their First Annual Favorite Foods Festival! The winners will be determined by a group us judges and by popular vote! So come out, do some shopping, and eat great food! 10am – 6pm,  5-25 46th Avenue, Long Island City, Queens

South Bronx Farmers Market: I have to give this new market another shout out! If you haven’t been up to the Bronx recently, this community focused farmers market is a good excuse to go! 10AM – 4PM, 138th Street between Willis and Alexander Avenues, South Bronx

Vegan Shop Up: You must go to this market. Vegan food has come such a long way since the days of nothing but tofu and almonds. You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy this monthly market. But if you are, everything is safe to eat! 12PM – 6PM, Pine Box Rock Shop, 12 Grattan Street, Brooklyn

Saturday & Sunday, July 26 & 27, 2014

Better Than Jam Summer Pop Up on Governors Island: You take the beautiful, free ferry from downtown Manhattan to Governor’s Island, where you will spend several enjoyable hours exploring the island on rented bikes, admiring the incredible views, and shopping for beautiful handmade products. This pop up shop is open in a beautiful mansion on the island, and it is filled with objects created by local artisans. Saturdays and Sundays 10AM-6PM, Fridays and Mondays 11AM – 5PM, Get to Governors Island and follow the signs to the shop!

Ridgewood Market: The market is participating in a 2-day Out In The Streets Music Festival at historic Onderdonk House! Check it out for the tunes, the food and the handmade crafts! Tickets required. 1820 Flushing Avenue, Queens

Sunday, July 27, 2014

92nd Street Greenmarket:The Upper East Side loves its farmers markets! This one opened in late June and runs through mid-November. It is not a huge market, but it is full of all the produce, fish, bread and dairy that the neighborhood needs for the week. Visit the area and do some shopping at this sweet market. Textile collection, composting and recycling. 9AM – 4PM, 1st Avenue between 92nd and 93rd Streets, Manhattan

The Wellness Market: This new flea market is open every Sunday, and it features a range of vendors selling organic foods, vintage clothing and much more. The idea is to promote wellness in the community. There will be a DJ and a mocktail bar, so plan on spending some time hanging out and being healthy. 11AM – 6PM at the corner of Myrtle & Waverly Avenues, Brooklyn
