Happy Fourth of July! I get misty when I hear the Star Spangled Banner. Every time. So I thought I’d feature this very cool antique microphone that I came across at the Astoria Flea a couple of weeks ago. Bill and Sheila from Affordable Antiques told me it was an Electro-Voice Mercury multidirectional microphone. I didn’t think to look at the model, but I think it might be #911 from the 1950’s. I can imagine rock and jazz stars from the 1950’s performing with this microphone on stages across the country with this microphone. I discovered that Ella Fitzgerald used an Electro Voice. But Elvis didn’t. He used a Shure 55S.
Enjoy your long weekend! And remember, it’s your patriotic duty to eat too much, but just this once. Until Thanksgiving.
