Weekend Market Picks: March 14 & 15, 2015: Spring Markets are Opening

Asia Museum

Boom! It’s springtime! I saw hyacinths in the greenmarket this week. Central Park has been in melt mode as the sun came out for the first time in eons. The markets are blooming too! It’s just a great time to get a little sunshine of our own before the crocuses suck it all up.

This weekend marks the launch of Asia Week, a collaborative event to promote Asian art in New York City. The image above is from the Rubin Museum, which is having its Spring Bazaar as one of its activities for the week. Shop for handmade items and books from or inspired by Asia, and visit the new exhibit of Asian masks, also opening this weekend.

Brooklyn Pop Up Market: I’ve met amazing artisan vendors at this market, and I’ve tasted some really great foods there too. The managers of this event keep coming up with market themes that sound like such fun. This weekend, it’s St. Patrick’s Day! 12PM – 6PM, 49 Wykoff Avenue, Brooklyn

Morbid Anatomy Museum Spring Market: I love the markets at the Morbid Anatomy Museum because the handmade and antique products are just so unusual and clever. I guarantee you will find things here that you won’t find at any other market in the city. 12PM – 6PM,  424 A 3rd Avenue (Corner of 7th Street and 3rd Avenue), Brooklyn
