This is the weekend to shop for Mother’s Day, especially if you need to send her gift in the mail. Luckily for us, there are fantastic market events going on in the city. And keep an eye out for my Mother’s Day Market Picks on NY1 All Weekend with Kristen Shaughnessy!

Here are my Market Picks for this important Mother’s Day shopping weekend:

Hester Street Fair:  Hester Street opened last week, and it was just named one of the Top 5 Flea Markets in the Country by Macy’s Bar III and Refinery 29! This market is also known for its fantastic artisanal food vendors and craft artisans. On Saturday, you have a chance to be styled by celebrity blogger Aimee Song of Song of Style! Saturday & Sunday, May 5 & 6, 2012

Crafts on Columbus:  A classic craft fair along the sidewalks next to the Natural History Museum.  It is in a beautiful setting under giant trees and filled with great gift ideas for mom.  While you’re there on Sunday, zip across the street to the Greenflea and the Greenmarket (Columbus Avenue between 77th & 81st Street, Upper West Side, 10AM – 6PM rain or shine)

Artists and Fleas:  This market is open year round, featuring a great collection of fleas and handmade jewelry, accessories, photography, vintage clothing and objects. They also have a great pop-up designers market in Chelsea Market through the end of May. (70 North 7th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; and in Chelsea Market 7 Days a Week, 88 10th Avenue at 15th Street in Chelsea, 10:30AM – 8PM Saturday, 7PM Sunday)

Greenmarkets: Visit one of the many great Greenmarkets all over town and make Mom a Gift Basket with jellies, jams, honeys, cheeses, lavender, and any other treasures you find from our local farmers!  (www.GrowNYC.com/OurMarkets)

Planning to spend the day with Mom next weekend? How about inviting her explore, shop, and have a delicious lunch in the markets?  She can pick out her own perfect gift!
