Weekend Market Picks May 6 & 7, 2017: Fiddlehead Ferns

It's fiddlehead fern season in the Greenmarkets!

It’s fiddlehead fern season in the Greenmarkets!

Whew! Who else got soaking wet on Friday? I just stopped caring how deep the puddles were and how wet my clothes got. And that’s because I know how much cleaner and fresher the city will be, and how plump and lovely all the spring produce will be.

And speaking of spring produce, it’s peak fiddlehead fern season! They’re a Super Food, you know, like kale, asparagus, and broccoli all rolled up into one beautiful, antioxidant side dish. They don’t stick around for long, so pop into your local greenmarket and pick up a pound or two of them. Here’s a beautiful recipe for Stir Fried Fiddlehead Ferns from the New York Times.

This is also opening weekend of Brooklyn Owl’s new shop! For unicorns only. (Not really – mermaids are welcome too.)
