And now, for my Indian Summer Weekend Market Picks!
Saturday, September 15, 2012
Chelsea Triangle French Market: This market is back for the season, featuring a wonderful collection of French food sellers, fresh produce and baked goods. I’ll be there doing a book signing from 11:30 – 1:30! 10AM – 3PM, 9th Avenue between 14th & 15th Street, Manhattan
Grand Central Market: I know everyone rushes through Grand Central Terminal to get on trains or off trains. But I encourage you to take some time and visit the wonderful food market there. You can find prepared foods to take on a picnic in Central Park, or fresh fish, produce, and even beef that’s dry-aged on the premises to cook at home. Grand Central Terminal, 42nd Street and Park Avenue, Manhattan
Morningside Park Farmers Market: This farmers market has a special blend of food purveyors, including seasonal produce and fresh bread, as well as chocolate, cured meats, chutneys and cakes. Morningside Park is one of nine markets in the city run by the Community Markets organization. I love the variety they bring to their markets. 9AM – 5PM, 110th Street & Manhattan Avenue, Manhattan
SoLA Sidewalk Soiree: Hang out in Bed Stuy this weekend with the Shops on Lewis Avenue (SoLA) and Gather Brooklyn! They’re talking about roller skating, great music, artisans, artists, local food, performances, plus scrabble and chess tournaments and a wine ice cream social! 10AM – 6PM, Lewis Avenue at Decatur Street, Brooklyn
And for our friends in New Jersey, check out the 26th Annual Riverview Neighborhood Association Flea Market and Festival in Jersey City’s Riverview Park! And also the 3rd Annual BBQ Festival in Hamilton Park!
Saturday and Sunday, September 15 & 16, 2012
Brooklyn Flea: Time to give some love to the Brooklyn Flea again! This market is perfect for finding new, restored and upcycled items to spruce up your apartment and your wardrobe for the new season. 10AM – 5PM, Saturdays in Fort Greene at 176 Lafayette Ave. between Clermont and Vanderbilt Aves.; Sundays East River Waterfront between North 6th and 7th St., Brooklyn
Smorgasburg: Did you hear? Smorgasburg is now open on Sundays too! In addition to Saturdays in Williamsburg, the Smorgasburg food vendors are now selling on Sundays in DUMBO!. This is very exciting news for food lovers. 11AM – 6PM, Saturdays at the East River Waterfront between North 6th and 7th St., Sundays in the Tobacco warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn
Congratulations to all the Vendy Award Finalists and good luck to you all on Saturday!
