You Ain’t Nothin’ But A….

Iron Site Hound Statues at Hell's Kitchen Flea

The Hell’s Kitchen Flea may be the earliest market to open in the city, along with its sister markets, the Antiques Garage and the West 25th Street Flea Market. I was there before 8AM last Saturday, and even though I am a night owl 100%, I have to admit that it was lovely to be out on a sunny day in the city that early in the morning. The market vendors were setting up and getting ready for a long-awaited sunny weekend.

I spotted these two handsome iron hound dogs along the way. I don’t know how old they are, but they certainly have a nice layer of historical patina on them. They are clearly sight hounds, maybe whippets? I love their beautiful curves and their alert expressions. And those ears!

These fellows may have been snatched up once the market opened. But not to worry. There’s always a treasure to be found in Hell’s Kitchen.
